Push The Hot Button Now!
Here is a test for the term referred to as mouseover. Which refers to an action happening when the mouse is placed over an object. The Javascript code for the mouseover is located in the header section of the blog.
The example of this can be viewed above, the larger picture is for your viewing pleasure, but the hot button is for the mouseover example. Simply move your mouse over the image and you will be transported to another URL location. Not quite transported now, but you will get the picture. You could set it up to go to another URL if you wanted to. To get back simply use your back button in the browser. Move your mouse from the hot button area to avoid automatically going back again.
To view this source code use your browser "view source" at the header section for the Javascript Code and then search for "onmouseover" and "goToURL" to see the actual coding in this blog post.
Other applications for mouseover can be to swap a picture, open another window, use it for menu effects, and play sounds. Notes: The strategic marketing advantage if done conservatively (not everything with the mouseover effect) can be to bring attention to an item which might get passed over. How Search Engine Robots respond to this as opposed to a standard html link I am uncertain.
Maybe you are wondering how I did the flashing lights? Well, write me an email, and I'll share it with you. Jim
